    Stuck in Tacoma

    Friday, March 19th, 2010

Well, my truck didn’t make the first available ship from Honolulu. I was expecting to pick it up in Tacoma last Monday. However, it did make the next week’s ship out. I’m hoping to pick it up Monday and leave Tacoma Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. * All Times in EST      Trip Plan Description        [...]

Oh, Tacoma Where the Mud Comes Sweeping Down Rainier …

    Thursday, March 11th, 2010

    - (to the tune of ‘Oklahoma’) Yes, I’m in glorious Tacoma, WA.  This is Mount Rainier (14,410 feet).  It’s a stratovolcano.  Hawaii’s volcanoes are shield volcanoes.  One of the things that happens when Rainier erupts is that mud flows come racing down the mountain.  I hope I’m not around the next time this thing erupts.

    Friday, March 5th, 2010

The tsunami watch on Saturday, February 27, 2010. I helped Nancy get some stuff out of her condo and then I drove to high ground to watch what happened.  I got there about 4:30 a.m.  I tried to sleep in the back of the truck, but there was so much activity that it was hard.  [...]

    Massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake hits Chile

    Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I had just laid down to go to sleep when Nancy mentioned that there was a large earthquake in Chile.  Hilo has such a history of tsunamis, that it woke me right up.  I’m going to be ready to head for the hills.  In fact, I’ll probably head for the hills just to be safe.  They say [...]

    Name that Corgi!

    Thursday, February 25th, 2010

The last post said K4 Tri.  The K stands for ‘puppy of Kalie.’  And, Ted: Tri is for tricolor Corgi. The 4 is for the 4th pup in the litter.  This dog doesn’t have a name yet.  Any suggestions?  I’ll pick her up on my way back to Minneapolis from Tacoma.  The names Penny and [...]

    K4 Tri

    Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

K4 Tri It’s a small mystery that really has nothing to do with Hawaii.  I’ll explain later.

    Minnesota Public Radio

    Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I still listen to Minnesota Public Radio just about every day.  I listen to it on my iPhone.  I’m so used to waking up to it.  Sometimes I wake up really early here in Hawaii and turn on MPR.  This morning I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and turned on MPR.  2:30 a.m. in Hawaii [...]

    The Countdown

    Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Vehicle shipping is taken care of.  Once it’s dropped off, there’s no turning back.  Well, no, I guess there’s always the possibility for Plan C.
