    ICU

    By Tiki Steve | January 18, 2012

I was in the Intensive Care Unit from January 16th – January 19th. What a great time!

I think they went a little IV crazy on my right arm.  They had at least 3 IVs going at a time.

I think they were trying to make an IV sculpture.   They did a pretty good job too.  Eventually it got way too complicated so they had to tear it down.

But, they promptly started a new one on the other arm.  Their first try opposite my elbow failed, so the next attempt was on my left hand.

1/20/2012 Moved to a regular hospital room.

2/7/2012 – My hand still hurts from that IV.   I especially liked the twice daily shots in the stomach to prevent blood clots (I guess they’ve never hear of aspirin).

    Cookie’s 2nd Birthday

    By Tiki Steve | December 14, 2011

Two years ago today, the world became a better place:  Cookie was born.

As far as I know, that is the only thing of any importance that has ever happened on a December 14th.

Cookie is better than I can possibly describe.  How a little animal can be so sweet and nice and friendly to everybody, I just don’t understand.  She is the jewel of my life.  She is the most valuable thing I have.  I don’t understand how so much sweetness and goodness can be packaged into such a little space.

I got her from Denning Farms.  They are very nice people.  They live on a farm in Iowa.  They know all about taking care of animals.  I’m very happy that I got my dog from them and I’d like to get a second dog from them.

Cookie and I have been all over the place.  I have made quite a few posts with her.

    Veterans Day at the VA

    By Tiki Steve | November 11, 2011

    11/11/11

I’m back in a Veterans Administration hospital. And, today is Veterans Day. I don’t think I’ll forget this one.

I can’t remember the last time anybody cared that I was a veteran.

    At a VA Hospital

    By Tiki Steve | October 21, 2011

I’ve never been in a VA hospital before. I got here on the 19th.

    ————- 11/5/2011 ————-

Follow-up: 5 nights in the hospital.

It was the first time I had ever had an I.V. I didn’t care for that. At the same time I had the heart monitor going 24×7. It made walking to the bathroom an interesting experience/challenge. The first time I did it I had to get help afterwards to get all of the wires and tubes unravelled.

    Garage Logic

    By Tiki Steve | April 25, 2011

Cookie and I got to spend about 6 weeks sleeping in this garage:

It was nice. It was heated to about 60 degrees.

I could have slept in a bedroom in the house, but my sister is allergic to animals, so I slept in the garage with Cookie. It was nice. It was a bit uncomfortable, but nice. Compared to sleeping in a tent or in the back of the truck, it was very good.

I drove my sister crazy. I seem to have a talent for that.

Who wouldn’t want their 47-year-old brother living in their garage?

‘Tis Better to Have Loved and Lost . . .

Tis Better to have Loved and Lost

    Happy VD!

I saw this sign on a building today. I’m not sure if that applies to me or her (probably both).

    The Great White North

    By Tiki Steve | December 28, 2010

    The Great White North:

I have been to Minnesota four different times since mid-October. Somehow, it sucked even more than I thought it could each time. After living there for 34 years, I shouldn’t be shocked by how much it sucks to be there. But, when the weather is cold, it always manages to shock me.

I left Colorado on a Sunday afternoon. I spent the first night at a rest area in western Kansas. I had too much stuff in the bed of the truck for Cookie and I to sleep back there. So, I slept in the driver’s seat and Cookie slept in the passenger’s seat. I used to hate the idea of sleeping in rest areas. Now, I like it.

The second night was spent in a rest area near Columbia, Missouri. I was trying to avoid driving to Minnesota. On Tuesday morning I realized I needed to make a trip to Minnesota. I was able to get into and out of the state in less than 4 hours. The FDA recommends annual exposure to Minnesota of less than 5 hours a year.

    Cookie’s First Birthday

    By Tiki Steve | December 14, 2010

As far as I know, the only good thing that ever happened on a December 14th was that Cookie, Bonzai, and a few wonderful Corgis were born a year ago today.

In honor of Cookie’s birthday, I will try to get the web cams running again.  It’s tricky when you don’t live anyplace.  I apologize in advance if you get a shot of me scratching my ass or taking a crap :)
